If you’re looking for a low mileage example of one of the most iconic 1990’s JDM sports cars, this RX7 is one worth giving a tri. The engine is stock, aside from a set of free flowing M’s Intakes and a conservative HKS catback exhaust. This car is incredibly easy and rewarding to drive, with spot on handling and twin turbochargers that help this rotary brap itself all the way up to 8,000 RPM’s! For such a small displacement engine, low end torque is abundant, and the engine and 5 speed manual transmission work together to deliver a smooth and responsive driving experience. Turn the key and the 2 rotor wankel engine whirrs to life. All controls, lights, and gauges are fully functional, and with the dash displaying only 54,000 original kilometres (33,500 miles!) it’s easy to understand why this car is so immaculate inside and out. A period correct boost control and turbo timer ensure that all engine health is in check. The interior is stock down to the original radio, with the only upgrade being a period correct Mazdaspeed steering wheel. The seats are free of rips, crushed bolsters or holes, and the dash is clean, with no cracking or sun damage. The interior is finished in plush OEM suede. A set of lightweight forged 17 inch A-Tech Final speed wheels fills out the stock body nicely and gives the car a timeless look. While rotaries can be temperamental at times, we have gone through extensive measures and maintenance to make sure that this one is ready to hit the road, and when taken care of correctly, the 13B REW rotary engine can offer an extremely rewarding driving experience, with plenty of aftermarket support and potential for impressive HP numbers! The iconic exterior of this FD is finished in a beautiful Vintage Red, the most popular paint option for these cars, and also one of the best looking! The rest of the exterior is stock with a few choice OEM upgrades such as the optional Front lip and rear trunk spoiler. Spec’d from the factory in Type R trim, the FD RX7 was equipped with a quirky, twin turbocharged 1.3l Wankel Rotary engine, also known as the 13B REW. Prices start at approximately 50,000, about half as much as a Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R or a Honda NSX is worth today. Although Efini was a short-lived luxury brand, the legend of the RX7 lived on, and this particular RX7 is an extremely low mileage time-capsule example of this crown jewel of Mazda engineering. The Mazda RX-7 cannot be described as a cheap or affordable JDM car, but it’s the only reasonably priced iconic JDM car. While the RX7 was sold in the USA as a Mazda vehicle, the Japanese took a different approach when marketing the RX7, choosing to brand it under one of Mazda’s subsidiaries, Efini. Characterized by it’s smooth, flowing body lines and fine tuned handling, the RX7 has gone down in history as one of the best performing sports cars to come out of the early 1990’s that can still hold it’s own on track against modern vehicles today. The third generation Mazda RX-7, more commonly known as the FD RX7, is one of the most timeless JDM sports cars of all time.
